Austrian Airlines sold around 150.000 tickets for the travel period around Pentecost. In a direct comparison with the same period last year, around three times as many tickets were sold.

Advance bookings for the main season, i.e. summer 2022, are said to be four times higher than in the same period last year. This is said to have now led to the decision that the capacity towards European holiday destinations should be increased by around 20 percent.

New to the route network is Valencia, which will be served from Vienna-Schwechat on Tuesdays and Saturdays from June 4, 2022. During the summer months of July and August, up to four weekly connections will be increased. The route network thus grows to around 110 destinations.

“Destinations around the Mediterranean are currently enjoying enormous popularity. With the addition of Valencia to our route network, we are responding to the Austrians’ currently happily unbridled desire to travel and are continuously expanding our network, even beyond the pre-crisis level,” says Austrian CCO Michael Trestl.

This year, Austrian Airlines has placed the focus on tourist destinations within Europe. 35 destinations around the Mediterranean are offered. Spain is a priority. For example, you fly up to three times a day to Palma de Mallorca, twice a day to Barcelona and up to five times a week to Ibiza. Also offered are Malaga, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Menorca and new Valencia.
