After Ryanair, Wizzair and other airlines, Austrian Airlines also has to further reduce its offer. Last week, the company, which had to take state aid after the first lockdown, confirmed that production would be reduced to around ten percent of the previous year's level.

As a result, other destinations have to be set - at least temporarily. Two long-haul destinations are also on the cross-off list, Bangkok and Chicago. On the short and medium-haul routes, Klagenfurt, Cologne / Bonn, Kosice, Podgorica, Bologna, Yerevan and Nice are no longer available. According to a spokesman, the measure should last at least until mid-December 2020. The route network is therefore shrinking to around 40 destinations. According to reports, a few other goals are at risk. Due to the course of the pandemic, no statement can be made about the exact duration of the reduction. However, it can be assumed that Austrian Airlines, Wizzair and Ryanair will not be able to ramp up their productions in December 2020 because demand will be low even then. At the moment it is also not foreseeable whether and when antigen tests can make entry easier.
