Since 1997, over 200 apprentices have been trained in a wide variety of technical professions in the red-white-red apprentice workshop at the hangar of Vienna Airport. In the new year, too, the domestic carrier is relying on its own junior staff.

“Apprenticeship training is an important and valuable investment in the future. On the one hand, the apprentices are our aviation experts of tomorrow; on the other hand, we want to give young adults prospects for their careers. We are therefore very pleased that we can again offer training to become a mechatronics technician in production technology in 2022, ”said Austrian Airlines COO Francesco Sciortino. The training to become a mechatronics technician has been offered since 2019 and is one of the most sought-after apprenticeships at the airline. There are currently 20 young people in this apprenticeship. “In the aviation industry in particular, a smooth process is inconceivable without professional aircraft maintenance. We therefore attach great importance to comprehensive training and a high level of quality, ”says COO Francesco Sciortino.

Those who have successfully completed the 9th year of school, have very good knowledge of German and English and are interested in aviation and who, in addition to manual skills and technical affinity, also counts commitment and a sense of responsibility to their strengths, have the best prerequisites for the apprenticeship. The training starts in September 2022, Applications are still open until February 13, 2022 on the Austrian Website is possible.
