Friedrichshafen looks back with satisfaction on the year 2022

Friedrichshafen Airport had to seek insolvency proceedings due to the corona pandemic, among other things. This also enabled the airport to get rid of certain legacy issues. Now the airport sees itself on the way forward again. Last year, Lake Constance Airport was used by 339.550 travelers. This corresponds to around 70 percent of the volume that was recorded before the pandemic in 2019. Growth was mainly driven by tourist routes but also by low-cost traffic to Eastern Europe. After the corona restrictions on travel were lifted, demand was high and led to a rapid recovery in this traffic. "In view of the fact that there was virtually no travel in the first three and a half months of 2022 due to corona and that Friedrichshafen Airport also felt the effects of the operational problems of the major airports indirectly over the course of the summer, we are very pleased with these figures," says Claus-Dieter Wehr, Managing Director of Friedrichshafen Airport. Economically, the year was marked by the termination of the insolvency proceedings under self-administration on March 31.03.2022, 1. Due to the insolvency proceedings, two financial statements for short financial years were necessary. One for the period of the ongoing insolvency proceedings from June 2021, 31 to March 2022, 1 and the second for the period from April 2022, 31 to December 2022, XNUMX, in order to return to the calendar year. The financial statements are characterized by a number of special effects that the insolvency proceedings brought with them and which lead to high positive annual results. For this reason and due to the changed observation period, a comparison with previous years' periods is not meaningful. With the termination of the insolvency proceedings on

Lufthansa Group to introduce “voucher accounts”

At the beginning of the Corona pandemic, numerous airlines deliberately delayed refunds and, where appropriate, compensation for cancelled flights. Some providers tried to fob off their customers with vouchers and even brazenly claimed that there was no other option and that the EU Commission had determined it that way. A blatant lie that has brought one or two providers complaints from consumer protection organizations. Some airlines, including Wizz Air, have been taking the approach for some time now of first crediting a customer account with refund claims. There is also a 20 percent bonus, which can be quite attractive at first glance. But only if you intend to book with Wizz Air again. Reimbursing the credit from the customer account - minus the 20 percent bonus - can be extremely complicated and, in particular, time-consuming. The low-cost airline does not make it easy for customers, because the relevant form is very well hidden. This can then mean waiting for weeks and, if necessary, repeated pressure by email and/or telephone. Other airlines also offer such “wallets”. The advantages for the providers are obvious, because in the event of a refund claim, the money is credited more or less automatically. Many providers also offer a small bonus, so the “real money” stays in the company’s coffers. They also claim that they have complied with the legal obligation to refund within seven days, because after all, they can use it to pay for tickets or additional services. But with Wizz Air, it is not really real money, because the credit can only be used if
