In the first month of the new year, Brussels Airport registered more than 1,3 million passengers, an increase of 66 percent compared to January 2022. This means that the airport is still around 20 percent short of reaching pre-crisis levels. The Christmas holidays had a positive impact on passenger numbers, the airport said in a press release. Travelers were mainly drawn to the United States, Turkey and Morocco. On these routes, the 2019 level was even exceeded. In contrast, cargo volumes at Brussels Airport fell by 2022 percent compared to the same month in 12. This decline is partly due to the Chinese New Year, but ongoing geopolitical tensions are also having an impact on cargo volumes. Asia remains the largest import and export region. Africa ranks second in imports, followed by North America.

2022: Erfurt-Weimar Airport doubles passenger numbers

The East German airport looks back on a successful 2022. The number of passengers has almost doubled compared to the previous year, reaching 139.078. The busiest month was October with 25.400 passengers. Nine airlines, including Corendon Airlines, Corendon Europe, Albastar, Tailwind, Freebird, Smartlynx, Sundair, European Air Charter and Croatia Airlines flew to holiday regions around the Mediterranean from Erfurt-Weimar last year. There were also special trips to Sicily, Bologna, Sardinia, Montenegro, Hungary, Croatia, Cornwall, the Channel Islands and the winter destinations Tromsø, Kittilä and Kuusamo. TAP suspends flights to Zagreb

TAP Air Portugal is finally ceasing regular flight operations between Lisbon and Zagreb. This means that there will be no flights between the two airports this summer. Passengers who have already booked tickets for a flight with the airline in the coming months have already been notified of the cancellation of their flights, the online portal Ex-Yu-Aviation reports. They are being offered alternative flight connections with other airlines. The Portuguese carrier had maintained the connection between the capitals three times a week and only resumed it last year after a five-year break. Both aircraft from the Airbus A320 family and Embraer E190 were used on the route. TAP is just one of many airlines that are now flying less frequently to the Croatian capital. Air France recently canceled the planned second daily connection between Paris and Zagreb, which was to be offered from July to September. Lufthansa has also postponed its second daily connection from Munich to Zagreb, which was originally scheduled to start on March 26, 2023, to July 2023. In addition, British Airways has also cut back on its flight schedule and is only flying to the airport on a reduced basis this summer. The reason is obvious: the airport management has announced that it will increase the fees at the start of the summer flight schedule. The airlines - or so it seems - are not amused.
