Thanks to a loophole: Russia wants to buy aircraft from lessors

When sanctions were imposed on Russia, aircraft trade with Russian airlines was virtually cancelled. An exemption from the EU sanctions enabled Aeroflot to purchase ten Boeing 777s. The Russian Cabinet granted Russian airlines a sum of 300 billion rubles, the equivalent of around 360 billion euros, to purchase aircraft from Boeing and Airbus. However, according to the sanctions, Russian airlines are not authorized to purchase aircraft of Western origin. The airlines should consider an exemption from the EU sanctions in order to purchase additional aircraft. According to the exemption, Russian airlines can also purchase the aircraft once all installments have been paid. After all leasing installments have been paid, Russian airlines such as Aeroflot are also able to acquire ownership through a purchase. This regulation enabled the Russian airline Aeroflot to purchase 10 new Boeing 777s. The airline plans to buy 21 more aircraft in the future.

Zurich Airport: 3D scanners are said to save time during checks

Most people are outraged when liquids and electronic items have to be stolen from hand luggage for security checks. However, security checks of this kind will soon be a thing of the past - thanks to the so-called super scanner. Zurich Airport is planning to revise the procedure for such checks. When travelling, or before a trip, you know that the flight could take a lot of time - be it due to security checks or flight delays. But the first problem is now to be eliminated - thanks to so-called super scanners. These make it possible to avoid opening hand luggage during a check, so in future there will be no need to take laptops and liquids out of hand luggage in order to successfully pass the check. As Frankfurt Airport was able to prove through a test, this process saves a considerable amount of time. With the help of the new 3D scanners, it is possible to check significantly more than XNUMX passengers per hour. According to various media reports, other airports are also planning to introduce this in the next few years. For example, most Spanish airports and the United Kingdom are switching over.
