Saudi Arabia launches third state carrier
By founding the second national airline, Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia is demonstrating its commitment to immense development of air traffic and tourism. The country has announced a third national airline for the end of 2024: "Neom Airlines" is to transport people from all over the world to the future global metropolis and current planned city of Neom. Saudi Arabia has set clear and precise goals for air traffic: the country is to have 2030 million passengers a year by 330 and the three airlines are to be able to offer 250 destinations worldwide. Saudi airlines can currently fly to 99 destinations. The new airline Neom Airline, which is due to announce its market entry at the end of 2024 to the beginning of 2025, will be launched under the leadership of Klaus Goersch. The airline's future goal is to transport people from all over the world to the future Saudi metropolis of Neom. Neom is a Saudi planned city that was initiated by Mohammed bin Salman. The first region of the city is expected to be visible in early 2024, and Neom Airlines' base at Neom Bay Airport has been in place since 2019. However, information on the fleet of this new airline has not yet been announced. With the founding of a third airline, the tasks of the potential airlines will also diversify. While Saudia specializes in flights to Mecca and Medina and the Red Sea, Riyadh Air is expected to add flights to 100 destinations around the world to its offering. The third airline, Neom Airlines, on the other hand, aims to bring people from all over the world to the planned city and future metropolis of Neom.
