The cargo airline Cargolux will remain a pure Boeing operator. The intention is to replace the aging B747-400F with B777-8F. The competitor model Airbus A350F has been rejected.
In the future, the fleet will consist of the Boeing 747-8F and 777-8F aircraft types. As part of the Farnborough Air Show, it was announced that the aging 747-400F will be replaced by 2027-777F from 8.
At the moment, only a letter of intent has been signed. The exact number of 777 Freighters to be ordered has not yet been determined. The manufacturer and Cargolux want to negotiate the number and delivery dates in the coming months. Currently there are 14 B747-8 and 16 B747-400F in the fleet.
