Lufthansa reacts to the train drivers' strike organized by the GdL union at Deutsche Bahn AG and uses larger aircraft in domestic German traffic. These are predominantly the Airbus A321 machine type.

A spokesman confirmed that, although larger aircraft were used whenever possible, no other machines had been reactivated. The strike at Deutsche Bahn AG is expected to last until August 13, 2021 2:00 a.m. So far there has been no sign of a possible extension from the union.

Since many rail connections are canceled, it can also be observed that prices in domestic German air traffic have skyrocketed for a short time. Private railway companies and long-distance bus providers also charge higher ticket prices. According to the companies on request, the demand is expected to have increased by leaps and bounds.
