Rail transport: ÖBB takes over Go-Ahead Germany

Advertising

The Austrian Federal Railways will also be active in public transport in Germany in the future because they are taking over the private provider Go-Ahead Deutschland. For example, in Baden-Württemberg this is active on behalf of the state.

The formal buyer is ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG. The contract was signed on October 12, 2023 and still needs to be approved by the competition authorities. Go-Ahead and ÖBB expect the release to take place this year.

The seller is the British transport company Go-Ahead, which operates in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg with subsidiaries in regional transport within the framework of advertised contract transport. These are now to be taken over by the Austrian Federal Railways. The ÖBB has not yet provided any information about which brand the current go-ahead trains will operate under in the future.
