The regional government of the Balearic Islands is offering holidaymakers free travel insurance until the end of the year, which, among other things, covers additional costs in the event of Covid-19 infections during their stay.
They actually wanted to offer this a few months ago, but according to the Mallorca Zeitung the negotiations with the insurance company Ergo have broken down. The new partner is the car driver club Race. The deal is said to be very expensive for the public sector, as they have to pay a premium of 749.234 euros.
According to the official announcement, the insurance cover should also include an interpreting service. In the event of quarantine in the Balearic Islands, repatriation and a possible extension of the stay should be secured. In addition, a hotline was set up to assist holidaymakers.
