Anyone planning a vacation or a trip to Morocco in the near future should be prepared for the fact that this cannot take place. The African country imposes a landing ban for international passenger flights. This is justified with the Omikron-Corona variant.

The ban will come into force shortly before midnight tomorrow and is temporarily limited to two weeks. In the past, however, it has been shown that such measures are frequently extended and, moreover, at extremely short notice. For both individual and package travelers, this means that there will be no Morocco flights for the next two weeks.

Domestic connections as well as ferry and cargo connections are not affected. Negotiations are currently under way about how holidaymakers who are currently in this state can be brought home by the organizers or airlines. However, there is no reliable information on this.

People who are currently in Morocco or who have booked a trip for the next few days or weeks should urgently contact their tour operator or their airline and clarify how to proceed. After the ban comes into force, it makes no sense to go to the airport at all for flights to Morocco. Since this is an official order, passengers do not have the right to compensation payments according to EU Regulation 261/2004, but they do have the right to reimbursement of the ticket and / or travel price within one week.
