Innsbruck Tourism has a new managing director in Barbara Plattner. The 34-year-old prevailed against 52 other applicants in a selection process. With immediate effect, she is in charge of one of the largest association areas in Tyrol, which stretches from Innsbruck to the Mieminger Plateau.
With Barbara Plattner, an internationally experienced and well-connected expert in Tyrol is moving to the top of Innsbruck Tourismus, who has also impressed within the organization with her knowledge and commitment," says Mario Gerber, Chairman of Innsbruck Tourismus, pleased about the unanimous election. According to Gerber, a well-founded selection process paired with quick decisions are the ingredients for keeping the tourism association able to act even in the transition period. “The Innsbruck Tourism team is united behind the new management and that is of central importance. Because now it is important to implement the major goals after the Corona crisis in city and holiday tourism together with the strong service providers in our region in order to bring Innsbruck and the holiday regions in the entire association area back to the tourist level of 2019 as quickly as possible.
Gerber's deputies Katharina Schnitzer-Zach and Lisa Peer also emphasize that Plattner presented a convincing concept to get city tourism going again and to develop the entire region sustainably. Increased market development with special campaigns and innovative projects that go beyond the limits of tourism are the first steps. “Right now team players are needed who can motivate, live the digital change and shape the future with fresh ideas,” explain Schnitzer-Zach and Peer with a view to the designated managing director.
