At the Euroairport Basel-Mulhouse, the failure of several charter flights to Pristina is causing irritation. For example, connections announced by Fly2Sky and Alk Airlines as operating carriers were canceled at short notice.

Many people with roots and/or relatives or friends in Kosovo wanted to use Maundy Thursday to travel to Pristina. The demand is traditionally high, so there are some charter flights. However, those that were supposed to be operated by Fly2Sky and Alk Airlines have been canceled without replacement. According to those affected, the rebooking to connections of other airlines should not have been possible because they were fully booked.

Chaotic scenes are said to have occurred in the area of ​​the Euroairport check-in counter, because the passengers with valid tickets wanted to travel, but the ground staff are said to have only been informed that the flights would not take place. Gradually, a mixture of anger and desperation built up. Neither the airport nor the two airlines wanted to provide information on the reasons for the cancellations. Alk Airlines has also canceled Pristina flights for the next few days.

The clients of the charter flights also remain silent and refer to the operating carriers, who in turn believe that the two operating carriers should be the right contact persons. Ultimately, the impression is created that nobody wants to take responsibility for the fact that hundreds of travelers are unable to board their paid flights to Pristina.

According to its own statements, Basel-Mulhouse Airport was not informed of the reasons for the cancellations either by the travel agencies that chartered the aircraft or by the operating carriers. All that is known is that there will be no flights and, in the case of Alk Airlines, neither on Friday and Saturday, so even more passengers will be affected. These would actually be entitled to alternative transport, but travel agencies and airlines seem to care little about this.

There are now long waiting lists for the remaining connections, which are operated by other airlines. The prices are correspondingly high. According to reports, some Pristina passengers have already taken the train to other airports such as Zurich and are trying their luck at free remaining seats in the direction of Pristina.
