A serious incident occurred at the Indonesian airline Batik Air at the end of January 2024. Both pilots are said to have fallen asleep for around half an hour during a flight.

According to local media reports, the captain handed over to the first officer because he wanted to take a short rest. However, the co-pilot also fell asleep. Air traffic control was unable to reach the plane for around half an hour. Both pilots were suspended from duty. The Civil Aviation Authority called on the operator to take appropriate measures to ensure that the pilots are rested for their duties.
