Belavia is supposed to compensate west with Russian goals

The political leaders of the EU countries have decided that the Belarusian Belavia is undesirable in the Union territory. The carrier is reacting to this and is now increasingly aligning the route network towards the Russian Federation. New routes are also to be added to other CIS countries.

Nikolai Snopkov, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, said in an interview he gave to state television that Belavia will fly to many more destinations in Russia and other CIS countries in the future. Specifically, he named Sochi, Krasnodar, Mineralnye Vody, the region around Lake Baikal and Altai. At the same time, he emphasized that the Russian destinations would be ideal for holidays by Belarusians. The member of the government is also convinced that Belavia can fully compensate for the loss of destinations in the West with Russia and other CIS destinations.

Most recently it became known that Belavia will significantly reduce its workforce. However, the information about the extent of the deforestation varies widely. Independent media report that around half of all jobs are at risk, the carrier itself admits in a TV interview in Russia that job cuts are planned, but denies the extent mentioned by the independent media.
