Embraer 195 with registration OY-GDC operated by Marathon Airlines was severely damaged at Belgrade Airport on Sunday, February 18, 2024. The plane was supposed to have flown to Düsseldorf on behalf of Air Serbia.

The pilots did not use the full length of the runway. During takeoff, the aircraft's fuselage was severely damaged. Due to the weight of the fuel, the regional jet had to circle for around an hour before it could touch down again in Belgrade. It then became clear how badly the OY-GDC was damaged.

According to reports, the aircraft came into contact with lighting lights during takeoff. It is assumed that the jet was too heavy to use the shortened runway or that the pilots did not take off quickly enough. The Serbian Air Accident Investigation Authority has already started its work.
