The Serbian government intends to support the partially state Air Serbia with subsidies in the coming year. But there are also tactical reasons for this, because if Etihad Airways does not go along with it, the golf carrier's 49 percent stake is diluted.

The budget is currently just under 151 million US dollars, which will be divided among ten companies that have been classified as particularly important by the government. Air Serbia is also on the list. How high the amount that will be transferred has not yet been determined.

Since the minority shareholder Etihad Airways has been very unhappy for some time, the Serbian government has been looking into taking over the stake in the golf carrier for some time. This holds 49 percent. Should Etihad not participate in the planned capital grant from the state, the current stake of 51 percent could increase by diluting Etihad's stake. This is definitely a tactical game in discussions with the golf carrier.
