For the first time since the start of Berlin-Brandenburg Airport, the operating company wants to have made a profit in 2022. The business result before taxes, interest and depreciation was 57 million euros. In previous years, it was deep in the red.

The main basis for the good annual result was the doubling of the number of passengers compared to 2021 to almost 20 million passengers, which increased revenue from airport operations by around 40 percent. Together with the proceeds from property sales amounting to almost 180 million euros, this resulted in sales of 594 million euros.

“In the 2022 financial year, we took an important step towards financially stabilizing the airport company. In a continuous operational optimization process, we were able to offer 20 million passengers a service that was further improved compared to the previous year and increased our operating revenues. Despite the ongoing economic and political challenges, we are expecting passenger growth of 10 to 15 percent this year and thus a total of around 23 million passengers,” says Managing Director Aletta von Massenbach.
