The German federal capital Berlin is launching something similar to a successor to the nine-euro ticket. The monthly ticket for zones A and B is being offered for an expected period of three months at a price of 29 euros per month. The matter has a crucial catch for passengers.

The nine-euro ticket, which has now expired, could also be used for trains between the German capital and Berlin-Brandenburg Airport. This will no longer be the case with the 29-euro monthly ticket, because BER is located in the federal state of Brandenburg and thus outside of Berlin's tariff zones A and B.

Thus, passengers need an additional ticket for their trips to the airport and/or back. There is also another circumstance that makes the Berlin 29-euro ticket less attractive, because the tickets cannot simply be bought at the machine or at the counter, but you have to take out a subscription. The low price should only apply from October to the end of December 2022.

The buyers are admitted that they can exercise a kind of special right of termination before December 31, 2022 and thus withdraw from the subscription, but if you forget the deadline, you have to pay for at least another month. Unless the Berlin Senate decides to extend the 29-euro offer, the price according to the tariff applies. And this is much higher.
