The airport company expects an increased volume of travel during the summer holidays in Berlin and Brandenburg. The FBB expects up to three million passengers.

That is about a million people more than in the summer holidays of last year, but still two million people fewer than in the summer holidays of the pre-corona year 2019. In the period from July 6th to August 21st, between 65.000 and around 75.000 passengers use BER Airport. The number of passengers is distributed relatively evenly over the six weeks of vacation. According to the airlines’ current registrations, up to 22.000 take-offs and landings are planned at Berlin Brandenburg Willy Brandt Airport during the holidays, a third more than during the 2021 summer holidays. In the summer of 2019 there were around 37.000 flight movements.

A total of 52 airlines fly from BER to 127 destinations in 45 countries during the holiday season. Turkey, Spain, Great Britain, Greece and Italy are particularly popular travel destinations. The airport company recommends all passengers to be at the respective terminal two and a half hours before departure and to proceed to the security check immediately after check-in.

“We are very pleased that people are flying again, be it on vacation, to visit family or to do business. However, the pandemic and its consequences are still causing an exceptional situation in the entire aviation industry. In the last few weeks and months, the airport company and its partners have prepared as best they can for the holiday season and the expected three million passengers. Nevertheless, there will be occasional waiting times and delays. We therefore ask all our passengers to obtain comprehensive information before their journey and also to prepare themselves well," says Aletta von Massenbach, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH.
