On Saturday, September 2, 2023, Terminal 5 of Berlin-Brandenburg Airport will say goodbye with a celebration. The former Schönefeld Airport will thus finally be taken off the grid.

A festival area will take place in the parking lot in front of the disused terminal. Tours of the former Schönefeld buildings are offered from 12 p.m. The visitor terrace can also be used.

The festival, organized by the municipality of Schönefeld in cooperation with Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, will be officially opened at 14 p.m. by Mayor Christian Hentschel and airport manager Aletta von Massenbach.

“Both BER employees and former passengers and visitors connect many memories with the former Berlin-Schoenefeld Airport and Terminal 5 of BER. We want to say a dignified farewell to our terminal next Saturday and invite you to visit the building again. In the future, a new, lively city quarter will be created on this site, which will equally benefit BER Airport and the municipality of Schönefeld. There is every reason to celebrate together. You are very welcome," says BER boss Aletta von Massenbach.
