Irrespective of the corona pandemic, Milan-Bergamo Airport is sticking to its master plan for the further development of the infrastructure. A new arrival area with an additional Schengen area was recently introduced.

The company plans to invest a total of 435 million euros and expand the total area of the terminal to 70.000 square meters. This also includes the current expansion work on the west side of the existing building in preparation for a future direct connection to rail traffic, which will significantly improve the connectivity options for the airport's passengers.

"We have to look ahead and stay positive that we are getting back to pre-pandemic traffic levels and therefore we have to stay prepared and ready for the future," said Giacomo Cattaneo, Director of Commercial Aviation at SACBO. “As we expand and develop our infrastructure, we remain true to our simple approach for both passengers and our airline partners. We want to make sure that we continue to be a fast and lively airport, full of services and facilities for everyone ”.

As construction continues to gain momentum, the airport remains committed to expanding its route network. Most recently, Blue Panorama celebrated its maiden flight to Dakar. The connection between the Italian airline and the capital Senegal, which was launched last Friday, complements the airport's growing range of African routes in addition to flights to Morocco and Egypt. “We are overjoyed that Blue Panorama has recognized the demand in the market and has chosen to serve the large Senegalese community in Italy from Milan Bergamo. Despite the hardships of this year, we continue to feel committed to our passengers and partners and it is currently extremely rewarding to achieve and achieve a goal, ”said Cattaneo.
