In addition to the price, on-board catering is an important criterion for many passengers when it comes to which airline to book the next flight with. In order to be able to deliver food and drinks to airlines, the catering companies must comply with strict airline safety audits, but also with the regulations of the individual aviation authorities.

It seems all the more strange when a listed airline catering company is apparently not interested in the fact that a video has been available on the relevant streaming channels on the Internet for a good two years, in which a group of adults leaf through the safety-related documents of airline customers.

First of all: The authors of the video can obviously be assigned to the "Lost Place Explorer" scene. Here, supposedly empty buildings are invaded and documented by video, mostly without the consent of the owner. Since these videos published on YouTube are enjoying an ever-growing fan base, the authors sometimes even receive royalties for their dubious reports.

One of these videos clearly shows that explorers entered the company complex at the Spreesschanze in Berlin, neither with the consent of the owner nor with the consent of the aircraft caterer Do&Co. Instead of worrying about civil and/or criminal penalties for illegal entry, the video is also hosted on Youtube.

Actually, by this time at the latest, the owner of the property or the airlines involved in the video should have a legitimate interest in taking action against the authors – or at least deleting the video. Not even close!

After Aviation.Direct and other well-known media agencies became aware of the existence of the video, several attempts were made to obtain a statement from Do&Co Berlin - or the parent company in Vienna. However, Do&Co has so far reserved the right not to respond to inquiries about the video. It is therefore also not possible to clarify why the highly sensitive documents were accessible to third parties?

At the same time, an attempt was made to draw British Airways and Qatar Airways attention to the scenes published in the video, which clearly show access to sensitive data. The airlines' security policies should actually force immediate action to prevent further access to the video - or the documents shown in it. However, both carriers have not responded to repeated requests.

A long-standing aviation expert who informed Aviation.Direct about the video problem had been proven to have tried to contact the security officers of the airlines directly via various social media channels for almost a year. However, his messages were ignored, as was a request from the LBA. Only the FOCA took on the request and also recognized a need for action. Due to territorial responsibilities, however, reference was made to the responsibility of the authorities in Germany.

Do&Co is a globally active and experienced airline caterer

The listed company Do&Co is one of the world market leaders in the field of airline catering. Attila Doğudan founded the company in 1981 in Vienna. Just a few years later, Do&Co entered the airline catering business and was able to cater for Lauda Air, which was founded by Niki Lauda. In the meantime, Do&Co has grown into a considerable empire and has been able to build up further branches of business in the areas of catering, hotels, restaurants and coffee houses. Far beyond the borders of Austria, Do&Co and the Demel and Henry brands are known for good quality food. In Germany, Do&Co Berlin GmbH is represented with a branch at Spreeschanze. Up until 2019, the on-board catering for numerous airline customers such as British Airways, Qatar Airways and Austrian Airlines was prepared here, in order to later load them onto commercial aircraft at the legendary Berlin-Tegel Airport.

The official headquarters of the subsidiary Do&Co Berlin GmbH is still at this address, but both the YouTube video and a local inspection carried out on behalf of Aviation.Direct indicate that no food has been prepared here for a long time.
