Due to the - at least officially - temporary closure of BER Terminal 5 ("Ex-Schönefeld"), the low-cost airlines Ryanair and Wizz Air also moved to the new building that opened in October 2020. The Irish lowcoster believes that they can now offer travelers a "new and efficient T1 experience".

According to the announcement, Ryanair plans to offer around 2021 destinations from Berlin-Brandenburg in the 45 summer flight schedule. “We are very happy to be moving our air traffic in Berlin to the new building at Terminal 1 of Berlin Brandenburg Airport.
