Due to the - at least officially - temporary closure of BER Terminal 5 ("Ex-Schönefeld"), the low-cost airlines Ryanair and Wizz Air also moved to the new building that opened in October 2020. The Irish lowcoster believes that they can now offer travelers a "new and efficient T1 experience".

According to the announcement, Ryanair plans to offer around 2021 destinations from Berlin-Brandenburg in the 45 summer flight schedule. “We are very happy to be moving our air traffic in Berlin to the new building at Terminal 1 of Berlin Brandenburg Airport. Ryanair customers can enjoy the same fantastic, affordable fares and convenient location in a new, easy-to-navigate terminal. Now that we have been offering flights from Berlin to Schönefeld and Tegel Airports for more than 15 years, we are looking forward to working with Berlin Brandenburg Airport in the coming years, ”said spokeswoman Tanja Ehrlich.
