Last year, Berlin-Brandenburg Airport was the first German airport to introduce the so-called “security check with appointment.” The free product, which is marketed as “BER Runway,” has now been used by around one million passengers.

Thomas Hoff Andersson, Managing Director Operations at Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: “BER Runway is extremely popular with our travellers. I am very happy that the service is so well received. We were the first airport in Germany to introduce BER Runway last August and are continuously improving the product. The way to the gate is becoming easier and easier with our digital services: First use self check-in, then with BER Runway to the security check. This is how the holiday begins in a relaxed manner.”

Via BER Runway, passengers can reserve a free time slot online before departure for separate access to the security checkpoints. Booking is possible from 7 days before departure. The reservation is automatically linked to the boarding pass and recognized at the boarding pass control. The capacity will be increased again during the holidays and will then be 8000 timeslots per day.
