The history of the airport in Tegel will come to an end on May 5, 2021. The airport had to be kept on standby for around six months after flight operations had ceased. This deadline expires on Wednesday.
From a legal point of view, Berlin-Tegel will then no longer be an airport. Flughafen Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH will hand over the first building to the State of Berlin on Tuesday. A vaccination center is currently set up in the former Terminal C. In the past, this was initially mainly used by Air Berlin. After the bankruptcy of the homebase carrier, Easyjet moved into this extension.
