When traveling by air, you can now pre-order or reserve many things. In future, it will also be possible to secure a slot for going through security at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport. For the time being, this should be possible free of charge.

The corona pandemic meant that you now need an appointment for many things. In the near future, it will also be possible to agree on a time for passing through the security check at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport. This should be made possible via an online tool. The purpose is to reduce the queues in the terminals.

It is also clear to those responsible at BER that it will take some time for such an innovation to get around among passengers. Therefore there will be no obligation to reserve an appointment. It can be assumed that there are separate lines: those for people with an appointment and those for travelers without an appointment.

In Germany, BER is the first and currently only airport to introduce a slot system for security checks. Details will only be presented in the next few days, but it is emphasized that booking Siko appointments will be voluntary and free of charge. It can be assumed that one or the other airport will closely monitor the course of the project in Berlin, because the allocation of Siko appointments could also be a future source of income. So it cannot be ruled out that there will soon be imitators who could make “skip the line” possible for a fee.
