Berlin-Brandenburg Airport plans to open another terminal at Easter 2022. However, it is not about the former Schönefeld building (T5), but about Terminal 2, which has been completed but has not yet been opened.

Report chief Aletta von Massenbach announced this after a conversation with Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer (CSU). The company announced this to the DPA, among others. In recent weeks, BER has been caught in the crossfire of criticism due to the chaotic people in charge. With the commissioning of the T2 one wants to provide a remedy. They also want to switch to the two-slope system this year. A specific date has not yet been announced, but December 2021 is in prospect.

How Terminal 2 will be used is still open. First and foremost, it should be about their check-in and Siko capacities. It is still unclear whether aircraft will also be boarded from this building. It is also unclear whether Terminal 5 will ever be reactivated. This should be used in a transitional period until new buildings are erected. The decline in passenger numbers meant that the former Schönefeld terminals were temporarily taken offline.
