A new hangar is being built on the grounds of Bern-Belp Airport. The client is the Lions Air Group, which is present here with its subsidiary Alpine Air Ambulance with the area of organ transport and ambulance flights.
The new building will be built between Hangar 6, which dates from 1937 and will be partially dismantled, and the General Aviation Center. The Lions Air Group intends to use the new hall for maintenance work on helicopters and airplanes, among other things. The groundbreaking for the new building has already taken place.
Since the grounding of SkyWork Airlines, Bern-Belp has only had irregular scheduled services. Various attempts could not hold up, so the Flybair house brand did not bring any resounding success either. The Lübeck-Air connection operated by Air Alsie is currently the only regular air service. Otherwise there are only charter flights, business and general aviation here.
