The Swiss airport Bern-Belp will get two scheduled destinations from July 2021, which will be offered by Lübeck Air. These are Stuttgart and Lübeck. The implementation is carried out by Air Alsie with ATR72.

With the SkyWork bankruptcy, the regular scheduled services disappeared from Belpmoos. Only vacation and charter flights have remained. In the previous year, the scope was significantly reduced due to the corona pandemic. The in-house brand Flybair will not take off this year and is also in a legal dispute with Helvetic Airways. The regional airline also claims to have paid for the canceled charter rounds. The airport subsidiary sees it differently.

Lübeck Air - operated by Air Alsie - will commute twice a week between the Hanseatic city of Lübeck and Bern from July 1, 2021. The flights are offered on Thursday and Sunday. While there will be non-stop flights on Thursdays, a stopover in Stuttgart is planned on Sundays. Since vice versa tickets are sold between the federal city and the state capital Baden-Württemberg, there is a second new destination for Bern with Stuttgart.

Last "extension" was unsuccessful

Bern is an extremely difficult airport in the scheduled business, because the SBB connections to Basel, Zurich and Geneva are excellent. This results in strong competitive pressure. So far, no airline has been able to stay in Belpmoos permanently. This does not apply to classic holiday destinations such as Palma de Mallorca.

Most recently, Magdeburg-Cochstedt Airport tried an “extension” to Bern with the short-lived CSO Cityfly brand. The flights operated with Metroliner led from Magdeburg via Munich to Bern and back with a stop in Bavaria. This route was only used for a few weeks and then took a “summer break” that has lasted for almost a decade.
