Billund: Sun Air reactivates first route

The regional airline Sun Air of Scandinavia celebrated its comeback on September 5, 2022: The British Airways franchisee resumed the connection between Billund and London City with a Dornier 328 jet.

Before the corona pandemic, the company had a base in Friedrichshafen, Germany. From there, flights were offered to Düsseldorf and Berlin-Tegel. So far, these have not been reactivated. At the moment there are no signs of a possible comeback at Lake Constance Airport.

From Billund, too, the BA franchisee initially only flies on the back burner. For the time being, the London City route will remain a one-off. The company said destinations Brussels, Dusseldorf, Manchester and Oslo will remain paused indefinitely.

“We are delighted to once again be able to offer you a direct service between Billund and London City and to welcome you back on board. The route will start with six weekly rotations from Monday to Thursday with morning and evening flights and Sun Air's well-known high level of service before, during and after the flight,” says Sun Air of Scandinavia.

The Danish airline is one of the few Dornier 328 jet operators in Europe. The fleet currently consists of 13 examples of this type. However, some units are in the so-called long-time storage and should be reactivated at short notice if necessary. Sun Air is based in Billund. As a British Airways franchisee, you use the brand of the IAG group member without being a member of the group yourself.
