Ryanair Group boss Michael O'Leary assumes that Lufthansa will soon join Ita Airways. In general, the manager expects that there will be numerous takeovers in the coming months and years. He explicitly named Tap Air Portugal, Wizz Air and Easyjet.

Referring to his own group, Michael O'Leary emphasized that a particularly large number of new bookings for the summer of 2023 have been received in the past few days. He is still convinced that low-cost airlines are more in demand in times of rising everyday costs, because people would use the savings potential. The population will rather cut back on vacations, but rather on other things that he did not name.

Nevertheless, Michael O'Leary assumes that airline ticket prices will continue to rise. He suspects that many are booking their tickets for the summer of 2023 right now, as many are concerned that it could become significantly more expensive. The Ryanair Group boss predicts that average fares will increase by a single-digit percentage - at least on short-haul flights within Europe. He attributes this not only to increased kerosene prices, but also to the fact that supply is scarce. Many competitors would still offer lower capacities than in summer 2019.

Michael O'Leary predicts that there will be some acquisitions in the coming months or years. He is convinced that Lufthansa will soon join Ita Airways. He sees Tap Air Portugal more at IAG. He also considers Easyjet to be a candidate that could be swallowed up by a larger corporation. O'Leary speculates that Air France-KLM or IAG will buy this company.

He also considers Wizz Air, which some time ago made a purchase offer for Easyjet that was probably not meant to be entirely serious, to be a provider that will sooner or later be bought up. O'Leary suspects that Lufthansa wants to take over the pink low-cost airline. The Ryanair boss is always right with his speculations, but it also happens that he is thoroughly wrong. He has often predicted insolvency for Lufthansa, which of course has not happened so far.
