Gulf carrier Etihad Airways is considering converting five Boeing 777-300ER passenger planes into freighters. These should also serve as a bridge until the first Airbus A350F arrive. The latter machines are not expected before the end of this decade.

The Air Cargo News portal quotes Tim Isik, Vice President of Commercial Cargo at Etihad Airways, that various options are currently being examined. Among other things, one can imagine that five out of seven B777-200Fs could be converted into freighters. There is no exact schedule yet, as Etihad has not yet made a final decision.

Isik: "The question arises as to whether we could consider some conversions to strengthen our freighter fleet while we await the delivery of some A350 Freighters."
