The US aircraft manufacturer Boeing cannot expect approval of its new long-haul aircraft 2023X until mid-777 at the earliest.
The approval process could not yet begin, too much data was still missing, the US regulatory authority FAA rejected a corresponding application from Boeing in May. Even with a major software update, there are still too many ambiguities.
"The FAA will not allow an aircraft that does not meet the safety and certification standards," said the agency over the weekend. No comment was received from Boeing. The start of delivery of the larger version of the 777 long-haul jet has already been postponed several times. The last target was the end of 2023.
