The US aircraft manufacturer Boeing is still unable to deliver 787 Dreamliner machines. The FAA has not yet given the green light and there is no prospect of this before the end of October 2021.
A delivery ban was imposed due to identified production defects. According to the Wall Street Journal, the FAA has not yet approved the improvements and it will therefore take some time before long-haul Boeing 787 jets can be handed over to customers again. The end of October 2021 is named as a possible time horizon.
In July 2021, Boeing had to admit that deficiencies had been found in copies that had not yet been delivered. These need to be fixed. The FAA also wants to inspect the affected long-haul jets individually. Trust in the manufacturer is not least due to the B737-Max misery.
The FAA also reserves the right that Dreamliners that are already in service must be temporarily withdrawn from service for inspection purposes. Boeing has reduced the cycle rate in production, because at least for the time being, due to the delivery stop, you can only assemble on a stockpile. For the aircraft manufacturer, the situation is now problematic, because the more delayed delivery occurs, the easier it is for airlines and lessors to withdraw from the purchase contract. Most of the payment is also due immediately before the handover.
