The Italian government will begin negotiations with US aircraft manufacturer Boeing to purchase six KC-46A aircraft. These are intended to replace the aging KC-767A.

In Italy the pattern is called KC-767B. The six copies are to replace four of the previous model and at the same time the tanker fleet is to be expanded by two units. The order volume is around 1,3 billion US dollars, including technical manufacturer support for five years.
