The long-standing dispute between the EU and the United States over subsidies for the US aircraft manufacturer Boeing could soon be over.
It appears that arbitrators from the World Trade Organization (WTO) have determined the level of possible sanctions that the EU may impose and have passed it on to the parties involved. At least that's how you hear it from “familiar circles”, like the news medium Reuters reported. Accordingly, the EU is likely to levy punitive tariffs on US exports of four billion dollars annually. And that would be only a third of what the European Union had argued.
The WTO did not provide any information on the matter. The decision should not be made public until mid-October.
