Cats in aviation always cause amazement. This time went missing on a domestic flight between Tarija and Santa Cruz Airport operated by Boliviana de Aviación. The animal was transported in a transport box, but the owner was then given an empty box.

The incident happened on December 8, 2022 on flight OB1555. Cat Tito should fly to Santa Cruz together with the owner of Tarija. However, the airline did not allow carriage in the cabin, so the four-legged friend had to travel in the hold. It was in a normal transport box, which cats can't actually "crack" into. In Boston, another cat proved them wrong, fleeing after a Lufthansa flight landed and fooled the airport staff for days, because the animal could not be caught.

While it was at least known in the USA that the cat roams the airport premises, in Bolivia it is completely unclear. You don't even know where the animal is. Anyway, the flight was two hours late. After landing in Santa Cruz, the traveler was given the transport box, but her cat was not on board. The passenger later learned from the airline that the four-legged friend was "lost" before take-off for unknown reasons. No one knew exactly where the animal was. It is also not completely clear whether the cat might have escaped after landing.

In any case, a search operation was initiated. So far, this has not been successful, even though specially trained search dogs were used in Tarija. In the meantime, it can no longer be ruled out that the animal may not have "escaped" voluntarily, but could also have been stolen by an unknown person. In this direction, too, investigations are carried out within the company.
