To steer a boat in the Croatian Adriatic, a boat license - also known as a coastal license - is essential and therefore mandatory.

If boaters are checked and unable to produce a driver's license, severe penalties can result. The only exceptions are sailing boats that do not exceed a length of 2,5 meters.

In order to obtain the coastal patent, it is necessary to successfully pass an examination at a port authority in Croatia. The boat driver's license - the Boat Skipper B - is the official confirmation that the transformation to a "leisure skipper" has been successful.

Boat license Croatia – a must-have practice

Since the Boat Skipper B is the basic Merchant Navy license, only the entire theory of boating is taught. In the merchant marine, it is assumed that the skippers, after passing the exam, sign on to one of the fishing boats, excursion boats, taxi boats or a freighter in order to learn the comprehensive practice.

Since the principle does not apply to the private boat skipper, it is recommended that practical training be added after passing the exam. "Learning by doing" brings continuous success and, above all, security for the skipper and his crew. In any case, the good theoretical training is supplemented by applicable practice.

Boat license Croatia - the way to get it is not difficult

The company AC Nautik e. U. has specialized in preparing future skippers for the boat driving license test. First and foremost, it is about Coastal Patent B, which allows the steering of sailing and motor boats without horsepower in Croatian territorial waters and is usually also valid in the other countries of the Adriatic.
