Engelbert Lütke Daldrup has asked the Supervisory Board to terminate his employment contract early this September. Since March 2017 he has held the post of CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH.

In a letter to the chairman of the supervisory board yesterday, he pointed out that he had fulfilled his task with the completion and commissioning of BER and the submission of the new business plan for 2021. With the completion of the 65th year of life, it is time to clear the way for a new and qualified management team. Now it is a matter of FBB continuing to devote itself intensively to the restructuring.

“Engelbert Lütke Daldrup took on great responsibility in a very difficult time for FBB and fulfilled the hopes and expectations placed in him. The fact that BER went into operation was largely due to his work. We are very grateful to him, ”said Rainer Bretschneider, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. The FBB supervisory board will already deal with the issue at its meeting next Friday and discuss the necessary consequences.

Berlin-Brandenburg Airport opened last October - after a nine-year delay. The construction of the new BER was marked by planning errors, technical problems and construction defects. The opening was postponed six times. The cost of building and soundproofing the residents tripled to around six billion euros.
