British airlines are increasingly entering the test business

Some airlines operating from the United Kingdom expect that in the summer of 2021 - regardless of the progress of vaccination - it may be necessary to present negative PCR results when entering many countries or when returning. This makes it useful to you and arranges paid tests.

These can be purchased from some providers - similar to a piece of luggage - when booking or afterwards via the login menu. There are even different prices with one or the other airline, whereby the costs are usually based on the test speed.

For example, Jet2 arranges appointments in various laboratories for a price of at least 75 pounds. The following generally applies: the higher the costs, the faster the result will be sent to the traveler by email or SMS. The competitor Tui UK currently offers two different packages: at a price of 70 pounds you get the result within 48 hours and for 84 pounds within 24 hours. The more expensive package is a box that includes a self-test. The sample must then be sent to a partner laboratory or handed in there.

The low-cost airline Easyjet has now also entered the “test business” and arranges both antigen and PCR tests. These can be purchased from Randox Health using the voucher code easyJet2021. Other airlines operating from the UK also offer the brokerage of tests or are currently in the starting blocks with the offer. If these are also necessary in summer 2021, which is to be assumed, the airlines could earn considerable sums of money from the brokerage.
