After a long break, IAG group member British Airways is back in Budapest. The carrier reactivated the connection to the London Heathrow hub. This lay idle for a longer period of time.

Initially, three weekly rounds are to be offered. British Airways plans to add another frequency in mid-September 2021. “Great Britain has been Budapest's largest country market for many years. Above all, London is by far our largest pair of cities, so it is great to be able to welcome British Airways back to our airport and another indication of our relaxation, ”said Balázs Bogáts, Head of Airline Development at Budapest Airport.

In July 2021, Hungary's largest airport had around half a million passengers and was able to improve by 77 percent compared to the same month last year. This is seen as a positive trend, but it is also recognized that it is considerably below the traffic management that was achieved in the comparable month in 2019.
