British Airways wants to “definitely” reactivate the A380

In contrast to other European Airbus A380 operators, British Airways wants to put this type of aircraft back into active scheduled service. This was explained by company boss Sean Doyle in the context of a virtual CAPA webinar.

The manager emphasized that the A380 is working well and that it is planned to return to service. As possible destinations, Doyle named destinations on the US east coast and also said that Miami will be a highly likely destination. During the corona pandemic, the British Airways boss repeatedly emphasized that the carrier he is managing will continue to rely on the superjumbo.

Only recently all machines of this type were transferred to London Heathrow. Regular technical maintenance is carried out. Observers already saw this as the first indication that British Airways really mean business. According to reports, the first A380s could be put back into regular service this year. The exact point in time will primarily depend on the further development of the corona pandemic.
