British Airways wants to reactivate London-Sydney

After almost two years of “Corona break”, British Airways intends to start flying again on the so-called kangaroo route between London Heathrow and Sydney (via Singapore) from March 27, 2022. In the first week, the route should be operated five times and then daily.

Air travel between the United Kingdom and Australia has a long history and is firmly in the hands of Oneworld partners Qantas and British Airways. The corona pandemic meant that the routes had to be paused for a long period of time. British Airways now plans to fly daily on the London (Heathrow) -Singapore-Sydney route in the summer flight schedule of 2022. For the winter season 2022/23, six circuits per week are currently planned.

For a long time, the Australian government pursued the so-called zero covid strategy. The borders were largely sealed off and citizens of the country were often not allowed to enter. In only a few corona cases, entire metropolitan regions were put under lockdown. It did not help, because the strategy failed and has since been discarded.
