The name Augsburg Airways once stood for precision and reliability in regional aviation, but the history of the long-established company ended in 2013. Lufthansa lost its wet lease contract and then decided to voluntarily liquidate the carrier.

The employees were paid severance payments so that they were spared the fate of their colleagues from Contact Air. This Lufthansa subcontractor was also terminated, but business operations, fleet and employees went to OLT Express Germany. Only a few weeks later they had to file for bankruptcy.

Now the brand “Augsburg Airways” is getting a comeback, because Freitag GmbH acquired the corresponding rights. The company wants to market its activities as a charter broker under the traditional brand, which still enjoys a good reputation. Entry into the aviation business under its own AOC is currently not planned.
