The corona crisis is still deep in the neck of the aviation industry: Only 283.164 passengers flew over Brussels Airport in January.

This value falls to just 16 percent of the previous year's level. A quarter of them were transfer passengers, traveling to North America, Africa and of course Europe. The reasons for this downturn are obvious - how else should it be: the ongoing travel restrictions as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic are weakening demand. Many airlines have cut their flight offers, which have already been cut, in the past few weeks. The number of flight movements also fell by 5.680 percent to 66 take-offs and landings - in the previous year this figure was 16.885 in the same period. When it comes to cargo numbers, however, the world looks very different. The bottom line is that the airport recorded an increase of over 21 percent in the first month of the year. With these numbers, you play in the top third from a European perspective, the airport proudly reports. Especially the vaccine transports would play into the cards of the capital's airport.
