With the help of drones, Brussels Airport wants to track down birds and, if possible, scare them away. A corresponding test program is currently running.

The airport announced that they wanted to use unmanned aircraft to find birds that could potentially be dangerous to aircraft and then - if necessary - to guide them away accordingly. The evaluation takes place during operation under normal conditions.

Under normal circumstances, drones are prohibited in and around the airport as a stray drone can create dangerous situations for air traffic. However, in order to explore the possibilities of innovative use of drones, Brussels Airport and Skeyes are organizing test days with drones under safe conditions. After a successful test in April with a security drone, the possibilities of a drone for bird control are being further investigated this time.
