Austria's aviation state secretary Magnus Brunner (ÖVP) assumes that the "privilege pass" required by his party leader Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) will make summer vacations possible. They expressed themselves similarly Elisabeth Köstinger (ÖVP) and Günther Ofner, Board member of Flughafen Wien AG.

Brunner is of the opinion that the aviation industry can look back on a tough year 2020, with only 25 percent of the 2019 volume being reached. Now, mutations and continued strict entry requirements would delay "the ramp-up of the industry that customers and companies have longed for."

"Of the Chancellor Kurz's proposal an EU-wide Green Passport is a great opportunity for regulated and stable air traffic in summer. Usually many plan their summer vacation around this time, this year is marked by great uncertainties. That puts a massive strain on the industry. For more stability and planning security, simple and uniform solutions are required - for passengers and companies, ”says Magnus Brunner. “A green passport based on the Israeli model is a great way to get a piece of normality back. Uniform proof of vaccination, negative test or illness that has already occurred allows people to provide the information necessary for mobility at home and abroad and companies and authorities an efficient test. With standardized and electronic evidence, we make things much easier for everyday life, such as going to the hairdresser. I appeal to the heads of state and government to support Chancellor Kurz's proposal and to find a quick solution so that people and the aviation industry can breathe a sigh of relief again ”.
