The Hungarian airport Budapest was able to set an all-time record in the air freight sector last year. A total of 183.362 tons were handled. That was 36 percent more than in the previous year, which was also strong in this segment.

4.622.882 passengers used Hungary's largest airport. In direct comparison with 2020, this is an increase of 20 percent, but the performance was well below the level that could be achieved before the corona pandemic.

2021 was the strongest year ever for freight: Budapest exceeded the threshold of 180.000 tons. Among the major cargo airports in Central and Eastern Europe, Budapest recorded the largest increase (+2019%) in cargo volume compared to 35,3 and is competing more and more closely with the other leading airports in the region, Vienna and Munich, in terms of cargo handling.
