The Bulgarian Ministry of Transport is pushing a line connection between the two capitals.

So far, some discussions have been held with several airlines on this topic, but none of them (yet) led to a conclusion. However, the negotiations are moving in the right direction and the parties involved are making good progress, Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov of ex-Yu-Aviation is quoted as saying. Accordingly, an agreement can be expected soon. The newspaper names Wizz Air as the hottest candidate for a connection between Sofia and Skopje. The low-cost airline has bases in both the Bulgarian and the Macedonian capital.
